flash8 crashing... please help me!
I had resorted to saving my flash file every 10 seconds because randomally it would just crash on me. And when it crashes it simply closes with no warning. One second im tweening away the next im staring at my desktop!
Ive just spend the entire morning trying to locate the problem and I think ive found it. Ive gone throught all the items in the labrary and discovered one bmp and it's containing movieclip symbol which, when I touch, crashes the program. The symbol is not being used on the stage at any point. I have tried replacing the bmp my dragging in another bmp of the same name, but this too crashes the program. Also if I press the "insert target path" button in the actions panel, this too causes it to crash.
Ive been working on this site, (http://www.kigwana.com/xavier)on and off for months and really do not want to start over.
Please does anyone know of a way to remove the corrupt file or stop flash from crashing.
Thanks,
Its a bmp causing the problem not a font. I know this because i have been through every item in the library and it is this bmp and its containing mc which causes the crash.
I've already tried to delete it and update it, but if I even single click it crashes. Ive even tried replacing it with an identically named file. This brings me straight beck to my desktop.
I think i need to find a way to remove items from the library without going into it.... I used to be a PC Support engineer. When Windows would not open due to corrupt files would delete or replace the file using the command prompt. Maybe theres some kind of alternative to this? If not then i guess im just gonna have to start again :(
btw, It's a PC, 2.4GHz with 1GB ram running XP (SP2).

you can download a demo that will find corrupted fonts, but won't fix them. I ended up going into Font Book and turning off all the bad fonts, so Flash no longer loads them. It sucks that you limit your fonts, but then again flash crashing all the time sucks more.
If you are using Windows then I've got nothing for you unless fonts may be the problem with that OS also.
