Online travel sites are rolling out a steady stream of promotions to win the
business of summer vacation travelers, including Disney World trips, July 4th
offers and Expedia's latest, a Maui flight, hotel and oh yes, wedding
combination.
Bellevue, Wash.-based Expedia already has a
Las Vegas weddings selection, and now Hawaii is being added to the
create-your-own wedding trips feature.
Since the Las Vegas launch last October, more than 450 people have booked
weddings through Expedia, the company says. Click on the "romantic trips"
link under the Guides tab.
Elvis impersonators apparently cost extra in Vegas, but on Maui you can get
the Sweet and Simple Beach Wedding, including two floral leis, a minister,
marriage license assistance, and a Hawaiian Certificate of Marriage for as
little as $318 per couple. Prices go up from there.

Meanwhile, Norwalk, Conn.-based Priceline.com launched a
4th of July promotion, offering "additional savings of up to an additional
$120 on your airline tickets" for travel to selected cities, where especially
dramatic displays of fireworks and patriotism are planned.
Priceline said it will automatically add
$15 per ticket to any purchase offer made through June 30, for a 4th of July
holiday or other summer trip. The offer is good for up to a maximum of eight
tickets and is available at a specific address.
Also making a play for the summer traveler, Travelocity, now a unit of The Sabre
Group, recently launched a travel marketplace for Walt
Disney World vacation planning and purchasing, making good on a deal
signed last February.
Among the offerings are land-only and air-inclusive Walt Disney World
packages and promotions, airfare deals and summer hotel rates in addition to
admission to Disney's theme parks in Orlando.
Airline consortium site Orbitz also has a 4th of July sale, as well
as special summer fares with up to an extra 5 percent off.
