Seeing Green: 4 Delicious Ways To Turn Over A New Leaf

A major component of my Secret Fat Loss Files program is eating some sort of vegetable with each meal. But don’t worry! There is absolutely no reason for veggies to be boring or bland ever again.

Variety is the spice of life, after all…

Here are four delicious leafy greens that will add fresh flavors to your salads and get your taste buds singing!

Arugula

This is one of my personal favorites. It has a peppery, mustardy bite.

The leaves look a bit like spinach, and you can use it in salads the same way.

Arugula goes great with sweeter fruits like apples and mandarin oranges. A bit of vinegar splashed on 2 cups of arugula and a segmented mandarin orange is a refreshing side to go with summer barbeques.

Oh, and so you know, arugula is jam-packed with vitamin A. (Vitamin A is nicknamed the “Good Looks” vitamin. So, arugula not only slims your waistline, it brightens your eyes and hair as well!)

Lamb’s Lettuce

This sweet and nutty green is delicate. Buy it the day you’ll use it, as Lamb’s Lettuce is very delicate.

Lamb’s Lettuce is also called Mache. Even though it has an exotic name, you should be able to find it in any well-appointed supermarket.

To build a great salad, pair this with sweet-tart flavors. And I like to add chopped walnuts as well, to complement the nutty taste.

Mizuna

Mizuna is very mild and sweet, so use it with other greens for a more substantial salad.

Go ahead and grab this on your Sunday shopping trip, it’ll hold up in your fridge for the better part of a week.

One cup of Mizuna is loaded with Vitamin C and has 100 percent of Vitamin A and Vitamin K. I’d call this a delicious way to get my vitamins!

Watercress

While the Vitamin A isn’t falling out of Watercress like it is with Mizuna, it is still a great source of this powerful micronutrient.

Watercress is pungent and with just a hint of bitterness.

Because it has such a strong flavor, it needs to be paired up with foods that can get along with its boldness. My mom recommends red wine vinaigrette as a dressing.

There we go, four delicious new leafy greens that fit right into your fat loss nutrition plan!

Now, as a take home message, remember one of the most important keys to fat loss: Have protein and veggies with every meal.

If you do nothing but increase your consumption of leafy greens, you’ll start to see results.

All right then, head out and find some more delicious new vegetables. I can’t wait to hear about your adventures and successes!
