SBC, New Edge Expand Carrier Agreement
The companies did not disclose financial details of the multi-year agreement.
SBC and New Edge have had a similar agreement -- one which covered SBC customers in Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell territories -- in place since 1996. The new deal expands the relationship to cover the five Midwestern states served by SBC.
"Our agreement with SBC represents a substantial new business opportunity for New Edge Networks in the SBC Ameritech region and builds on a long-standing relationship our two companies have," said Dan Moffat, president and chief executive of New Edge Networks.
The agreement allows SBC to act a single point of contact for ordering data communications services, minimizing the operational
issues that stem from utilizing multiple carriers to install and maintain customers' wide area data networks.
