Upcoming Catwoman Movie
1) First and foremost, good or bad, Catwoman is part of the Batman mythos, and there's not so much as a tiny mention of ol' pointy ears. Fans going to see the movie will wonder why that is, and end up disappointed.
2) Halle Berry. I'm sorry, but I don't think she has the chops to carry a movie as it's lead. Sure, she won an Oscar for Best Actress, but that was for working with Billy Bob Thornton in Slingblade, meanwhile she was small potatoes as Storm in the ensemble driven X-Men movies where she was upstaged by Hugh Jackman, while it probably took her steamy turn as a Bond girl in Die Another Day to get her considered for Catwoman. I just don't think Halle's on the same level with Julia Roberts or Catherine Zeta-Jones (an ideal choice for Catwoman!)
3) The costume. Are you kidding me? The damn thing looks like it came outta Britney Spears' closet! And that mask! I can't look at the dopey thing and take Halle seriously!
And those reasons are why I think Catwoman will be terminally neutered at the box office!
Im gonna have to agree with you on that, flashjeff.
In fact, I'm surprised that Halle's flameout earned that much, given the almost universally bad reviews it got. Hell, it might wind up being THE most panned movie of the year unless something worse is on the horizon. I guess most of the crowd that saw it were horny teenage boys hot to see Halle in that ridiculous psuedo-dominatrix costume she wore.
Now that word of mouth about the movie from what audience it did get is out, the box office will really shrink. Hell, with "The Manchurian Candidate" and "The Village" coming out this Friday, "Catwoman" probably won't even be in the top ten by next Monday.
And I see ALL the bad comic movies. Even Daredevil, *and yeah, I'll even see next years Fantastic Four film* but I just cant see a Catwoman that has nothing to do with Selina.
Besides, why the frell would anyone see that, if they can still see Spiderman 2?
DC had a statement about Catwoman though. They said that the film was just a ripple to get the company's feet back into the market of filmmaking with the public; which is why WB headed the production. DC cared about a much more significant film slated for next year.
Oh, and just for the sake of it, I'm gonna plug the upcoming Preacher film. Go Preacher.
Sure, no one's ever gonna mistake Sinatra for say, Laurence Olivier, but he's SINATRA, an American pop culture icon, so that's gonna be a problem for Denzel. Plus, the first version of Candidate was really good, so I don't know if the remake can stand up to it. Again, I could be wrong.
