» How long did diophantus live?

Diophantus's youth lasted 1/6 of his life. He had the first beard in the next 1/12 of his life. At the end of the following 1/7 of his life Diophantus got married. Five years from then his son was born. His son lived exactly 1/2 of Diophantus's life. Diophantus died 4 years after the death of his son. (I have no clue how to solve this problem. Well i got stuck. Please show work and answer to get full points.) Thanks a lot!!! :) This is what i got so far... 1/6x+1/12x+1/7x+5+1/2x+4=x 9.892857143+4x=x That's how far i got. » Why is it that everyone entitled to basic Human Rights?

Because that is the best way for a civilization to grow and find some sort of unity and sense of purpose.Because humanity is still to simple a creature, and not yet enlightened enough to be able to identify reliably the abberations among humanity that pass themselves off to be human, but are actually significantly "sub-human". This is why we do not incinerate child molesters, why we want to offer terrorists access to the full rights of a civilian trial, instead of a battlefield death, why we allow our children to run around in gangs instead of putting them in bootcamp. You see we are only "entitled" to human rights, because the state SAYS we are. The state has the power to enforce that idea on everybody within the society. I personally b...... - 2010-03-10

I need to get a manual slr 35mm camera, but there are alot of them on the market and im just starting my research, just wondering if anyone has any advice. Also I know even less about medium format cameras, just that they exist. Where do you buy the film? How much are the film and how many shots is there per package? :0) And whats the benefits of using medium format cameras? Just more detail per picture? Thanks for any advice. There a few manual cameras still available new(Minolta, Nikon), but more choices used. To look at used cameras and get an idea of prices, check www.keh.com (new and used equip). » commercial electrical wiring

Our company's building has a branch curcuit (split single phase(120 across each "hot and the nuetral bus and 240 across each "hot") that is on the output of a voltage regulator (I believe it is a ferroresonnant type). The main nuetral input to the regulator does not have any amperage on it ( I'm using an amp clamp). At the branch service panel , the one "hot" has 30+ amps, the other "hot" has 2amps(although, all the breakers have current in fact one has 20 amps , and the nutral has 40+ amps of current. Several of the nuetrals off the bus have current on them, adding to the 40+. There is definately current on the nuetrals (large spark when unhooked). I believe the load is balanced between the two "hots". My question is why is t...... - 2010-03-10

» Long time IPB user.. thinking of switching

Hey there, I have a few questions. I've been using IPB for years now, and have a pretty active forums at http://www.mtbkanata.com. I have no questions about vB's performance on large forums, as I visit many myself, and it always works just fine. My questions are: 1.) With IPB, I find that whenever there is a patch, or upgrade of something, I always have to re-code my customizations. Is that just the nature of the beast, or does vB have a better system for upgrading and not loosing all the enhancements made? As in maybe I only have to upgrade one file or something rather than the whole thing. 2.) I didn't see it anywhere, but is vB encoded with IonCube, or Zend? I have both on my server, but I prefer unencrypted apps, as they are e...... - 2010-03-10

how many solar power that can power up a city?Sorry, I totally disagree with Carl, the climate change is happening, just look at the extreme weather happening around. The Earth is warming up, my plumtree used to fuit mid to late December, now the fruit already can be harvested. Solar energy is clean energy, does not involve green house gases to generate power. You do not need to burn fuel to make electricity. That does help. but it is only part of the puzzle. You also need to look at how far your food travels, and other goods you buy. That is also the part of the ecological footprint you leave behind. How many? After the Sunderland result we need to take 3 points here. It will be nice to see Stern John playing in the premiership though. I think we should be able to win this one, but we have to fix everything we did wrong against sunderland. I think Bakke has had 3 bad matches in a row, so TV might opt to start with Dacourt which would be a great idea. Bakke needs some time in the reserves to remember how to pass the ball to someone in a white shirt. I would love to see either Dacourt of Batty take his place. we'll see soon enough.Would like to see Ollie as well - Bakke has been crap. btw, is Bridges fit enough for the bench now that Robbie's gone? if not, maybe Singh gets that spot.Oh dearWow, wow, wow. Received a letter from the claim adjuster and disagree with his offer.First and foremost, speak with the adjuster over the phone and be very nice to him, but let him know that he needs to do something more. Get a copy of your policy and read it. Make sure he has covered everything. Adjusters have a lot of power with your claim, and if you're fair with him, he will be fair with you. Once your claim is out of the adjusters hand, it's very unlikely that you will get a better offer. If that doesn't work, ask the insurance company for a re-inspection. First I had the battle of finding jeans that fit me to begin with. I have a small waist and big hips, but I finally figured out the fitting part. Then I had the problem of these jeans stretching out way too much, even when I haven't had them that long. I was told to not buy jeans with more than 1% Spandex. I instead bought 100% cotton jeans--same problem. I stopped getting the thin material (which I thought at the time was the problem), and got thicker and more sturdy looking jeans--same problem. I even buy jeans a size or two smaller, (so long as I don't have too much of a muffin top...) because I know they will stretch out. I think the singer/narrator was Betty Hutton, but I'm not sure. How could I find a copy of this record or at least the story? You were close in guessing Betty Hutton; it was actually Betty Garrett who narrated the story. "Fantissimo, the Musical Horse" was one of three stories on the record. The other two stories (about a bear and a raindrop) were narrated by Keenan Wynn. » C# ASP.NET Adding Web References and hand compiling

I have a large project written in C# . Within Visual Studio .NET (2003) I added a "Web Reference" to let me access MS Reporting Services installation. Everything compiles and runs great when I use Visual Studio as the compiler. However, we also have a custom built build environment using nmake and csc (both available with the .NET Framework Software Developers kit) running on a machine that does NOT have the VS.NET IDE installed. By adding the web reference, the following files got generated and added to my csproj file: Since only one of the new files has BuildAction="Compile" (Reference.cs), this is the only one included in our build script. What do the others do? Are they needed in the...... - 2010-03-10

» Folder View Changes After reboot

I have not been able to locate an answer to this question. I was running a March release, now upgraded to the latest version of XBMC and still the same. All the proper "checks" have been checked in the "settings" window, but when I reboot the folders revert. All the documentation I can find states folder view should remain. All the other windows do the same thing (Programs, Pictures & Music) I realise these are now saved in a "db" and there are various options coded in there. Has something got screwed up. I am probably missing something. This is a completely fresh install. I set it like this (doesn't matter how I set it - after reboot the thumbnail views have to be reset) http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t127/Grooving_Kiwi/...... - 2010-03-10

» Incorporation of the Bill of Rights

The Supreme Court has incorporated (absorbed) most of the provisions of the Bill of Rights against the states, but this was a slow starting and gradual process. How has incorporation proceeded? What are the various approaches Justices have propounded to address this question? Which seemed to hold sway and why? What are the lingering issues that continue to plague this area of law? If the Court, under the leadership of Chief Justice Rehnquist-once a proponent of fundamental fairness-was to reject the previously accepted incoporation elements of the Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Amendments, what would be the state of the constitutional law of the criminal justice process?...... - 2010-03-10

» Why is it that magpies won't swoop me?

I don't wear any protection, and a lot of people complain about being swooped, but magpies just stare at me. Am I really that scary?? o.O What colour is your hair? If your hair is blonde or brunette your most likely to get swooped. I actually am not sure.wear anything shiny, for example sunglasses, jewelry and glittery stuff, if you want to get swoop. the magpies near me look like they only attack my dog, i don't know why, i walk through there everydayif your hair is shiny then you are more likely to be swooped. most people say that sunglasses help, but they just attract the magpies because they shine.Magpies think your good looking (get my drift)Cuz you stinkmaybe they just like you better than they do other people...... - 2010-03-10

» Output Buffering

If I was to capture all the output from vBulletin, would its own output buffering interfere with mine? I've experienced this on other scripts and PHP is set up to allow multiple levels of ob at a time...so I'm just wondering how well this is coded. I don't want to spend $160 to find out I can't use this. Thanks in advance.Considering the level of Plugins and control you have over vBulletin, plus RSS export feeds, I am trying to understand why you would want to capture the entire output of vBulletin and THEN try to modify it somehow? It might help us provide more useful information to you.Are you talking about a cacheing script like eaccellerator?I would be capturing all of vBulletin to stick it inside of my own layout.I would be capturing a...... - 2010-03-10

» Could two brown-eyed parents have a blue/green-eyed child?

I am twenty-eight and my biological father died when I was four and my sister was two. Both he and my mother had brown eyes as do I. When I was seven my mother remarried her childhood sweetheart (he has blue eyes). They'd kept contact on and off. I've always felt that my stepfather has treated me differently to my sister and was wondering if she really is my full sister or did my mum have an affair with my stepdad whilst my biological dad was still alive? It's a question that has been bugging me for years. Can two brown-eyed people have a blue/green-eyed child (my sis)? Any help would be lovely. Thank you. It happens all the time. » How does a coconut recieve its water?

The plant takes up water through it's roots and is transported to areas where the plants needs it. The endosperm of the coconut is all liquid to begin with and known as coconut water. As the fruit ripens this liquid is converted in to solid endosperm (a part of the seed) that is white in color and known as coconut meat (It is also very nourishing and high calorific value). When it is completely dry ; there is no water inside and the dry meat is now a good source of proteins and oils for the germinating embryo Through the roots, trunk, and stems of the tree.In a word ... capillarity. ...... - 2010-03-10
